Honest question for anyone who turns long videos or streams into Shorts.
I've tried a bunch of the AI clipper tools and my experience was always the same: it spits out 10 clips, maybe 2 are usable, and even those start halfway through a sentence or the crop loses the person's face the moment they lean back. By the time I fixed everything I could've just cut it myself.
That frustration is actually what got me building my own one (it's called LunarClip, runs on your own PC instead of uploading everything to a server). Along the way I noticed a few things that make or break a clip, way more than the "viral score" these tools love to show:
- If the clip doesn't start at the beginning of a sentence, people swipe. Every time.
- - Captions work better as 1-3 words at a time than full lines.
- - A crop that slowly drifts around looks cheap. Snapping back to the speaker on every cut looks way more natural.
- - A clip should end when the thought ends, not at exactly 60 seconds.
I'm genuinely curious how you all handle this. Do you use an AI tool and clean up after it, or do you still cut everything by hand? And what's the one thing these tools get wrong that drives you crazy?
