Wasted Years Editing the Slow Way in Premiere Pro!

For so long in Premiere Pro I would edit by splitting all tracks then moving the playhead to where I wanted to remove, then selecting the clip in between and then hitting delete. I never realised for so many years I could have used ripple edits instead, simply place the cut then move the playhead then hit Q and thats all those steps done in one, scrub back to check the edit as well after. It is so much easier. Do you use ripple edits or the longer way?
