Of course this is very possible, there are plenty of channels that started out faceless across many niches, education, kids, ASMR, gaming, so many did not show their face to begin with. Learning to be on camera may help you connect better with your viewers versus not being on camera as people LOVE seeing faces and emotion etc but I wouldnt say you have to be on camera to succeed. If being on camera would hold you back I would work with what you find comfortable. You never know in a few months you may be more comfortable and prefer being on camera. That feeling can easily flip over time.

The blankets will be great for sound deadening and creating that cosy ASMR feel and with the lights too. You are probably best recording either first thing in the morning or very late at night which isnt the best but may help with family noise, neighbours, cars outside etc.
I love the whole green leaves vibe that many creators use, a lot of shops use them to create a cosy feel home aesthetic.

I often feel like this about most of my projects, I work and sometimes by the time I come to record I am not feeling great. In the past I used to not record at all but then that would often snowball to where I wasnt making anything. If you can find ways to keep creating even on those days when you feel like you cannot be bothered then youre still showing up and being productive in your own more comfortable way. That could be as simple as just recording without any sound or writing some video idea notes down. Sometimes all we need is rest after working I completely understand.

Keep showing up, that is all you can do when wanting to get used to something to make it feel more normal for you. This feeling can happen regardless of the niche and we all feel like this when trying something completely new. You will get used to it, give it a month of making videos and it will feel second nature to just do it and not care as much

Intro video is a good starting point, maybe build out the content on the client trust side of things with nail care tips, come with me to todays nail appointment, nail myths and perhaps faq style videos. Ideally you will do videos answering actual questions that people search about nails blended in with your local area.

I use a few smaller mics for my phone, I have two by Hollyland:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hollyland-M2-Microphone-Cancellation-Livestreaming-black/dp/B0CP7QXWPN/
and this one:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hollyland-M2S-Microphone-Cancelling-Livestream-Black/dp/B0DNQ5D1H4/
For my uses it is probably overkill, I find that they record REALLY loud and I have to lower the volume when editing. Not sure if this is normal with USB C phone microphones. I would maybe look at something like these:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Uewpv-Microphone-Reduction-microphones-Black/dp/B0F637SV1K/
Theyre a much better price and the reviews showing how they sound seem great for the price. You can use them to do voice overs or while you record.

It would still be classed as LoFi ASMR I think that as long as its recorded with lower quality equipment such as with a phone camera, cheaper lower end mics then that's fine. That mini mic haha would be fun to see scratching and tapping on it with it being so small.

I am forgetful in general but I feel that using TikTok and any apps where you just vegetate and consume content has me even more forgetful. I worry a bit these days as I can tell when its happening.

I am trying it tomorrow when he brings it to me, I think it looks better on preview video on YouTube.
Make sure to share any questions you might have about getting the most from it.

This is really encouraging seeing the views. Ive been wanting to start but kept thinking I have to buy better equipment first π Im just starting with my phone mic and see where it goes. Thank you Iβll check them out!
Youre welcome, yeah with LoFi ASMR content you really dont need any kind of equipment just a phone is perfect.

An s21 Ultra is a massive upgrade to the s10 especially with it being the Ultra, the cameras on the pluses and ultras are really good compared to the non plus versions. I would probably use that and keep the money for lighting equipment and anything else you may use like props perhaps or stands/tripods etc maybe have a test with it and see what you think of the quality and then go from there. Hopefully it meets your quality expectations and you end up with budget for other things.

Theres a lot of ASMR channels that focus only on LoFi ASMR, they just use their phone and have built a channel around that. It definitely is possible, have a look at these channels:

So I have a YouTube with about 65k subscribers on but averaging after 2 to 3 days of posting 1.5k views per video. The channel honestly feels dead. It does get comments on the videos from my loyal subscribers but its hard to keep motivated when you have a 20 sub channel getting the same videos in 1 day. I am really considering starting fresh, I feel like the algorithm is broken with my channel. What do you think? Have you have ever thought sod it and went for a total rebuild and restart?

Are you planning on bringing customers in knowing they will be part of your videos yeah? You are best using a mini phone tripod/ring light setup, your really need soft lighting. The rest of the room would be good to be well lit too. Does it have to be directly overhead for a birdseye view or offset?
-
Have you tried the portrait mode on your phone? It may help smooth things out some more. Diffused lighting will help too. I know when close up every detail becomes visible as I do quite a bit of macro photography it can be difficult to avoid. Softer lighting will definitely help and you may want to do some editing after in Lightroom if you have access to it.

I see this with kids channels my kids used to be watching kids youtube and I see the channels would be more and more crazy like bath tub full of sweets and things most people cannot afford to own I think it shows them lifestyle that most people do not have
I used to have a kids channel a very long time ago myself and would see channels showing off very unrealistic things. It is sad to see but obviously draws in a lot of views with grabbing attention. It is like Mr Beast, a lot of his content has to level up the insaneness of the one before, more money, more risky etc

I think if done right could really propel a salon or any business. Clients and customers LOVE to see behind the scenes and vlog style less produced content. I am unsure what you could post daily vlog style maybe showing your morning routine of setting up before the first client arrives and showing off new clients treatments? Not sure if that would appeal to you but I would go for it. I cannot see it hurting your business at all. Would be really good to see the results and how far it would take your business and channel

-
I would say it depends what you can handle, for a nail and beauty salon maybe a few times a week but optimally to keep a constant interest then daily or 5 days a week. For my business on TikTok I post 5 a week and consider it a heartbeat to keep it alive. I dont post groundbreaking content there just reminders of my business existence haha
-
I think with a beauty salon you would be good to show your face where appropriate like say if you done a video to show what its like to experience your services then being on camera saying welcome dressed for work would be good so clients can see who is behind the business and who will be giving them treatments. I think videos like this with the business owner etc really helps with customer anxiety especially with such personal services like beauty treatments. I know as a customer for this kind of business I would want to see who I am going to see beforehand. It really depends on the business for example a business selling cable ties I am not going to care about seeing the owner lol π

You can upload the same video theres nothing wrong with that at all. I do this every day now as I felt I was wasting my video content only posting to TikTok when it would have been useful on both. If you have subscribers on both they may like to see different content on them but I dont think most will be bothered. Like I use YouTube for my long form watching, for example if I was going to watch Mashtag Brady I would watch him over on YouTube not on TikTok where id only find short content. For your salon I would say just re-use the content and not to worry too much about it.
