It is certainly possible, TikTok is really good at serving your content locally. For example you may see a random video every so often and think wow thats just up the road. That's the algorithm serving local content and that could happen with your business too. I think it is well worth adding valuable content to these platforms that your potential customers could find. It could be simple as sharing a video about what their experience would be like at your salon going viral locally.

I think what you may be looking for is a smaller light with a mini tripod. You could possibly use a cheaper ring light on a mini tripod too, some may even come with one. The ones above are much smaller than a 12 inch ring light and very portable.

With you starting out I would try and get a cheaper ring light but something that is decent quality. I have 3 ring lights I bought back in 2020 roughly, they were £20 each on ebay with RGB colour changing and warm and white light settings etc they have lasted so well but they no longer sell the same ones on ebay. I would probably go with a Neewer product off somewhere like Amazon for your first ring light if you want the best quality and well made product and definitely a smaller one with a tripod included and cradle for your phone.

Would you trust a business using AI to generate video? What are your thoughts on this as I know for my own business I will only use it for article creation and graphics and sometimes for advice etc related to my work. As for video I havent used it in my business I think it would lead to a lot of customer distrust wondering what is real and what is not real. It cannot be a good feeling for customers.

For close up shots I think you could get away with it but for full ai generated people I wouldnt use those in your niche as I feel it wouldnt help with client trust. I think closer shots of nails showing and beauty treatments are doable but with you having a client base I feel that real people and clients would be better proof of your work and real results than anything ai gen. You may find it more useful enhancing your videos though.

Im really undecided when it comes to video intros. I used to think they were fantastic but now I think it depends whether you like them or not and want to risk potentially losing someone in the first few seconds to an intro. I think it varies with niches, the beauty niche and for businesses I think works really well. For anything where you really need their attention I am unsure if it is worth it unless it is a high energy intro. Gaming intros were massive back in the day, everyone wanted one, I dont know what gaming channels do now as I dont watch them. I know that attention spans are a lot shorter and declining so the few seconds is more important than ever before.

Most of the time I just like having notes / talking points but if it's a more serious or lengthy video topic then I could foresee a full script being better.
Makes sense just having notes for something less serious or intense. When I record I either memorise what I need to do, write some notes or now and then I will use my tablet on its stand with notes up, thats better than reading my awful handwriting 😅

I am curious what your process is for deciding video length before recording. Do you pre-plan your videos length or do you go with the flow? For me I LOVE making videos for my main at around 10 mins long, I feel that its short enough to keep peoples attention and long enough to not be ridiculously short. I do find longer ones perform better though with a lot higher average percentage viewed than usual. What's your take on this? I always try and pre-plan in my head roughly how long the video will be. Tonight I am recording one for my YouTube and I am going to aim for about 10-15 mins.

I am wondering about this, say a video is made with AI are you a lot more likely to click off and it leave feeling with a sense of annoyance as if the video was wasting your time? I have felt like this before when watching something that looked real for a second or two then I realised it wasnt and I felt a bit annoyed and clicked away as soon as I realised. Anyone experience this too with ai content in general? Surely ai videos must see a high abandonment rate... hmmm

So in my main niche it feels like almost EVERYTHING unless its completely weird and unique has been done before and at the same time, when you do try something unique it feels like it will instantly flop with it not being what the audience expects on the channel. How do you find ideas for new videos when your niche feels saturated? Do you struggle to create something new or avoid it due to not being pushed out properly when trying a new idea so stick to same old?

Do you feel like an imposter when posting as a new channel? I know when I started on ALL of mine I have always felt like it wasnt my place or like my information wasnt as valuable. It is the same feeling I sometimes get as an administrator posting here when I share information about a subject as if I dont have the experience or knowledge and maybe I am not in the right position to be making comment etc it is such a horrible feeling. We ALL start somewhere and feeling like an imposter must be a fairly universal experience.
Do you suffer from this or have you and how did you overcome it? For me I just ignored how I felt about and carried on creating and over time I felt like I belonged doing what I do. Really I feel people just shouldnt care as much but it is easy to say that and very difficult to just do.
What are your experiences with this?

When preparing to film your videos do you tend to have a whole pre-written script or find notes and bullets easier to use? I think for me it really depends on what I am recording. For something more serious I would be using a proper script but for my own content I find a few notes sellotaped around where I am recording to keep me on track really helps. Sometimes while recording I do wish I could easily look without needing to edit checking the notes out of the video

Which is your favourite platform? For me its quite a hard choice as I like both for different reasons. TikTok is good for short form of course and I love how they made livestreams quite fun. YouTube as a real resource completely beats TikTok. Overall I will be voting YouTube

I have noticed in myself that my memory just feels really poor lately, when writing on here I am writing incorrect words, making spelling mistakes that I never used to make and I am thinking to myself if it could be partially to do with my doom scrolling habits affecting me over time. At work I use a bit of AI too for things I would normally have to spend a lot of time thinking about but unsure if its related, Anyone else feel this too? What are the most views your have ever had on a video? For me it is quite big I once had a video hit 18 million views on YouTube back in 2017. Was insane to see it reach that as were the earnings that month. With my current main channel I think the most views I have had is about 200k. On TikTok my most viewed is at 3.5 million.

Big or small what are some of your wins this week as a creator?
For me this week I have posted 6 TikToks, 5 on a business channel and 1 on my main personal one. My schedules been all over with TikToks on my main and hoping the latest video performs well too. Ive also had quite a lot of views on the shorts I made shared to the business YouTube account, for a 20 subscriber account its actually done very well. Excited for next week!

Whether youre filming on your phone, a DSLR or a webcam, what camera (s) are you currently using for filming your content?
At the moment I am using a Panasonic GH4 which is getting old sadly, SD cards feeling like theyre getting stuck a bit but its been a very faithful camera given its age. The shutter count must be so low with it mostly being used for video. I also make videos on my phone and have a Nothing 3a Pro, its fantastic but does have some limitations especially in low light.

If you had to choose just one, what do you prefer to do, editing videos or filming them?
For me it would probably be filming, I love setting up cameras and getting lighting right and seeing the result. The editing process I can find a bit boring especially when I need to watch longer less engaging parts without cutting etc How about you?
