Thats similar to what I think, imagine someone hasnt left home in years with anxiety etc and finally decide to go shopping and they run into someone filming them, they probably wont go out again or even just knowing this is happening they may not even leave the house at all because of it and become really concerned it may happen to them.

In the UK youre able to record in a public place etc we have laws to allow for that but mocking, bullying etc with POV cameras is just plain wrong. I am curious if the platforms will eventually do something about it. It is like the dating content creators recording pick up with women which I do see how thats helpful but if theyre not consenting to it being posted then surely that shouldnt be monetisable.

Theres an update coming to monetisation on YouTube, at the moment you need 1000 subscriber and 4000 watch hours to monetise but its going to be increasing 8000 watch hours in the past year or 20million Shorts views in 3 months. The changes become effective on the 1st of February 2027.

Do you think 8k watch hours is too much for new creators? Why do you reckon they are implementing this change?

I got myself 2 cheap SD cards, now thats a regret. Amazon is full of 2 packs of them which tempt you into buying. Seeing you get 2 cards instead of one seems a steal. Never again lol I have just went to use 2 I got 1 month and 10 days ago from a brand called Kexin and both are not working. I have tried them in another adapter and windows cant see them or the Zoom h5. They have barely been used over the month too. I usually go with Sandisk and issues like this just confirms why I choose them over other brands of SD cards. I used to buy Kingston RAM years ago so tried their SD cards but I had similar experiences with data loss suddenly. All memory cards eventually fail but when you buy cheap and think youre getting a bargain you are often just outside the 30 day amazon return window lol

Have you ever had an SD card fail on you? I was so lucky yesterday with another of mine pulling the data off it using DMDE recovery software. Which brand of SD card do you use and trust the most?

Theres been so much discussion lately about POV meta glasses content in particular in Newcastle Upon Tyne where there's channels like MIchael Ballymore and TinTin who go around the city centre approaching homeless and often marginilised people and recording them without consent. Theres been quite a lot of what seems to be bullying posted but also a few times theyre helping the homeless. I dont think all of it is really bad but its becoming an issue where people think they can record you in a public place without any kind of consent. YouTube creator TynsideLife has been discussing this lately.

What do you think? Should people have the right to film anyone in a public place without their consent? Where should the line be drawn when the person being filmed is homeless or otherwise vulnerable? Should there be specific laws around filming people for social media content?

That's good to hear I have been waiting a few days now and its not changed yet. They dont have the obvious green dollar icons any more so unsure exactly where to look. I know on the single video pages it isnt showing earnings but does have revenue under analytics now.

When customising your channel you can keep or remove the home tab. What do you think is best? Remove the home tab and let people hit the videos page or have shelves like Popular Videos, Latest etc? Whats your thoughts and what is better?

Did you know you can bulk update YouTube video descriptions and remove specific text, add text or clear them out fully?

I needed this today for an older channel of mine, I had a beacons AI link in each one but with the recent issues for a lot of creators I decided to remove them from every video. There wasnt any "bad" content available from the links but still wanted them gone.

To do this you select all the videos you want or use select all for whole channel and then choose Description from the dropdown and choose an option and then add what you want it to be replaced with or the text string you want it to find and remove. Such a handy little feature.

Anyone else hearing about the ASMR channel bans as of late on YouTube? Creators such as Rose ASMR, Slight Sounds ASMR, LunaRexx ASMR and others have all been terminated -

Theres quite a lot of discussion around it in the comments and on Reddit etc. Apparently the bans are YouTube enforcing their policy about external links to link pages like beacons.ai etc featuring "fans" sites such as OF and Fansly etc and their way of ensuring ASMR channels and possibly other genres are not funnelling people to their adult sites.

What are your thoughts on this? Is it a good thing or wrong of YouTube to ban without issuing warnings to correct?

I believe that YouTube should give warnings first to let creators remove these things as I am sure they would all comply and stop using the platform as a funnel once warned. It would give people a chance. On the other hand I see that creators are ignoring the policies about linking to these sites. What are your thoughts?

Do you think YouTube should warn creators before terminating their channels for this or is immediate enforcement justified when the policy has already been published in the community guidelines etc?

How long does it take for monetisation features to show up on your YouTube account once approved into the YouTube Partner Programme? All the settings are missing for me after getting the approval email etc unsure why or if takes time to propagate. Anyone experience this?

What video length do you you aim for on TikTok? For me in the past I used to try and do them exceptionally short making sure they looped so often would be about 16 seconds long. Now I try to make them at least 1 minute for monetisation. What about you? Do you aim for short vids or longer 1 minute plus for monetisation or does it depend on the content? Have you noticed one performing better than the other for you?

Guys I done it in just 5 weeks this is a record for me across ALL of my previous channels! Really cannot wait to turn mid rolls off on my videos as I feel bad having them left on but we dont have control over that until we are approved. Just need to wait to see if they approve, dont see why not of course and fingers crossed it doesnt take a month. When you hit this it is so much more incentive when creating as you know youll be able to use the money to potentially buy new equipment, new props and actually fund things when they break down over time thus providing better content and protecting the longevity of your channel

How long did it take you to get monetised on YouTube or if youre not there yet whats your biggest struggle right now? Do they really take a month these days? How long was it for you once you were being reviewed?

So I got my first troll, full on hating saying I shouldnt be doing my videos, writing "STFU" etc across a few and then went on replying to my commenters stating my videos are "shit" etc and made a mock out of my username. I really dont understand why you get people like this. My content isnt for them so you would expect them to just ignore it and move on like most people would do. Its so odd when someone becomes that annoyed by your existence and creations that they become so emotionally fuelled to begin hating on you like they loathe you.

Have you ever experienced this? I replied at first but when onto to remove their comments and hide user from channel. How would you deal with it? I was tempted to leave the comments up and let people defend me but at same time I dont want people seeing some idiot like that being allowed to run free.

I am so pleased I started from scratch with my new channel, 5 weeks ago today I went all in and started again. My old channels subscribe base was largely inactive, I messed up my account years ago linking it as a music channel by mistake and I think that affected it a lot as it took a nosedive after that. I started quite poorly not defining my niche and I didnt fully know what I was doing, no content pillars nothing. I did what I wanted and whilst it was fun the early results were slow and all over the place.

My new channel has just passed 1300 subscribers in 5 weeks today which is amazing to say the least. I am thankful I decided to begin again.

I like to post these because if I can do it I believe anyone else can too and thats why this forum is here. I am here to help others grow and create their dreams the best I can.

Does anyone else trust ChatGPT or other AI to help with doing their expenses for TikTok and YouTube earnings? When I first used AI for it a long time ago it seemed to mess up the calculations but it is seemingly a LOT better at maths now. I often use it to help work out totals for equipment, materials, mileage etc and find it very handy. I wont say I fully trust it but I do like that I can put amounts in and have it add them up for me to save time.

Do you use AI for working out your taxes at all? I would prefer an accountant but cant get one at the moment.

Defining your content pillars really helps you stay focused and keeps you creating around a specific subject. They help you not run out of ideas, they provide clarity for your audience ie this is what this brand/person makes and also makes it way easier for the algorithms to understand what you are creating and then serve it to your people.

The beauty blogger can create around these subjects and not wonder what should I be recording today. Theres always something to pick from their content pillars. Sticking to posting around 3 to 5 content pillars allows people to better understand who you are, what you make and what to expect at your channel.

To begin with make sure you choose your niche, identify your target audience, build a list of content ideas, from the ideas create groups of similar ideas and then narrow them down into pillars like above.
