Do you remember your first time using a camera? When we were little we didnt have loads and my brother was a skater. Back then mobiles didnt have camera on them so we asked our mam to get us a proper camcorder from Argos. Think she paid 300 or so for it struggled to get it and we shared it as a Christmas present. The benefit for me was enjoying recording and my brothers benefit was seeing his tricks played back.

We would go out on a weekend with it to locations and film on the spot and carry a ghetto blaster with us with a Less Than Jake CD in it and NOFX etc and would have to press play and redo so many parts as we werent able to do any editing so the music had to be played from the player. It was such a mess on to get right, to achieve this today would take me 30 seconds in premiere. It is crazy to think we went through all those steps purely for the fun of it. There was no viewers except us and our mates, no big goals and zero chance of monetisation. It was memories and good crack. I miss them days so much now.

Curious what others did as their first ever piece of content online. What was your first EVER video that you uploaded to any platform?

I am unsure if it was my first but I believe it was from when I owned a YouTube background design website. We used to make YT backgrounds back in the day custom ones and premade ones was so much fun and good work. I think my first video was a promotional video for the website I cant remember it well though sadly it was probably awful either way haha what about you?

I am curious if I was to start a community channel if it would be possible to share YouTube analytics with other users on a per video basis. Anyone know if you can do this or would I just have to have it trust based if I wanted to split revenue with the creators?

Yeah thats true, I dont think I will ever need to as I shoot on a tripod so shakiness wont be an issue for me thankfully. Still go to know for when I get my action camera. Thank you.

Make sure to tag your videos and do a little bit of research before posting. For music and random jams youre probably best tagging the song name and #songcover #rockcovers etc

What are your thoughts on AI tools in content creation? Do you think they will make creating videos easier and allow more people to bring ideas to life who may otherwise not have been able to and in your opinion is that wide accessibility a good thing?

I already use AI for things like video ideas, checking vid performance and channel strategies but I havent really used it to create anything decent.

The interesting thing is how it removes barriers. Years ago creating a video with things like VFX scenes would need loads of skills but now AI can create the foundation for what would take probably weeks and a team with a simple prompt.

Do you think AI will help creators make better content or will it just flood platforms with AI slop videos? Very curious what you think.

Some more would be good but with being a homepage video I wouldnt sacrifice user experience with extra page load times for the sake of a couple of clips when what you have already looks great and will do its job well.

I tend to get bored though or even like... get this panicky "I can't keep this up!" Feeling, then I pivot to something else and growth stops. So I totally do believe the internet rewards consistency, and consistency has always been difficult for me in the past.

Man that right there is experience and worth sharing too. We learn from where we went wrong and others can too. Consistency can be difficult as well as the committing.

Tip: Get a cheap ringlight and use your phone on the mount that comes with it, theyre not very expensive and works as a tripod and is fairly portable.

I feel so tempted once I have my mics paid off to get a little vlog camera to do videos outside and maybe make a basic vlog channel for my spare time, I have done videos outdoors and my audience LOVED them and still ask for them years later. Part of me thinks it would be nice to have a little side project and post randomly and whenever just filming adventures, places I visit and everyday stuff without putting too much pressure on it. Like I love making yoghurt and want to show people how easy it is too.

GET STARTED. Dont sit on an idea for months and say you will do it soon procrastinating. Just do it even if you dont have everything ready or in place. Grab the phone and record. Create and dont look back.

Ive been thinking about camera settings this morning and was curious what other video creators think about this. For filming which would you go with, 1080p at 60fps or 4k at 30fps? Like 4k is great quality but is it best to just record 1080p at 60fps for smoother video? What are your thoughts? What do you record in? Thanks guys.

So I recently got a pair of them and one of them was making a muffled rumbling sound when handling if you tapped on the front of the grille/capsule or body it would sound VERY different to the other paired microphone so there was obviously something different between the two. I got a replacement but had the same issue. Now I have sent it off to Source Distribution/hhb for a repair. I am really hoping it comes back fixed. It should arrive there today as its out for delivery already. Anyone else had dodgy mics on arrival from any brand? I had this a few times with condenser mics. It makes me feel like I am being picky with the mic quality when I just expect something working properly and matching at that price point. They are not £30 mics.

I fancy getting creative and helping some people out so I thought id offer to make a few simple channel banners or artworks for members here. If you need some YouTube banner art, channel branding or something similar and it is fairly straightforward, I am happy to have a go and help you out in my free time.

Theres a rise of them, causing a nuisance in city centres and creating content from strangers. I do understand making videos in public but stuff that actually can cause alarm and distress and posting people without consent yes its part of the internet now more or less but at the same time I think its quite exploitative of the public who may not want to be featured in said videos.
