Been there, though now I regret almost every video I privated. I went through a phase where I decided all my silly content was cringe and just wanted everything but the music gone. When I came back and started talking to people, I noticed I had comments I'd never read from people saying "You did a really funny video about --- and now I can't find it! Can you bring it back?" And now I wish I'd just left it all up, (most of it anyway) but regardless, if it's making you uncomfortable you just gotta do what keeps you confident moving forward.

I've tried streaming games quite a few times now on twitch and at first my problem was just nerves and getting tired out after about an hour and a half of streaming to where I couldn't think of good things to say anymore or play very well. But what I wasn't even noticing is that my frame rate drops all the time during streams and gets unwatchable at times. I had no idea till the first stream I got some real comments on, and someone said they could hardly get my stream to load. I watched back my last stream and large portions of it are unwatchable, but I was saying a lot of funny stuff during those parts.

I've tried using ai to troubleshoot and done everything it said to do, changing to 720, making sure the right video card is chosen, lowering my bit rate, but the streams keep getting choppy and if they aren't choppy they lose quality and start looking like even worse than 720hd, it's starting to feel not worth it and like I should just record the content offline. What sucks is I was finally starting to get comfortable being live and hitting upwards of 3 hours on my streams, but if everytime someone clicks one they click off because it looks like shit, and if good footage is unusable because of it, it feels like I'm wasting time. If I can get the guts to do it I may try just going live with a webcam and guitar, that might be less taxing on my wifi I dunno, but that's a whole different ball game and I can guarantee I'll be like 5 times more nervous doing that lmao

Though if you wanna look at the thumb for my latest video New Vegas is Bonkers pt 1 and let me know if you think there's something wrong with it that'd be cool. Not sure why no one's clicking it, it may just take some time to bring in the gaming viewers.

It's why I use adblocker now. I spent years being the type of person who purposefully watched the ads before yt videos to support creators and happily did so, I didn't mind if they were a 2 or 3 minutes, I did it out of respect. But youtube in the last year or so decided they want to FORCE people to buy premium (that's gotta be why they're doing this) by making the ads intrusive, egregious, and basically so frequent they ruin the content. I have tried watching 10 minute videos that literally had an ad every 2 minutes before, this gives absolutely NO consideration to the content and how this affects it.

But it gets even worse (Now I'm in rant mode) these ads don't even just auto-play and then go away, oh no, they will keep going for 5 min or more if you don't press skip!! So there goes long form content and just letting it play in the background cause every 10 minutes you either listen to 5 minutes of ads or go over to your computer and hit skip, there goes music videos cause who wants an ad interrupting a song, it's seriously one of the most disgusting decisions youtube's ever made and totally anti-creator/anti-consumer. Why do you have to delete all the old videos? Why not just start a new channel and leave the old one up?

Michael this is all your fault! 😆 I was gonna just post to @symphonious7 and nowhere else, had it all figured out but you kept saying "Make a new channel make a new channel" cause the videos on the old one were getting between 3 and 10 views, SO I DID. I posted my first video yesterday, gave it a thumbnail I think seems pretty clickable, and here we are almost 24 hours later and NO VIEWS. So like... now I just have two channels that barely get any views and I'm not sure which to post to but it seems to me I should probably just stick with my old one.

I mean at least there is SOME kind of action happening over there, and every AI I talk to, (which means copilot and chat gpt) insist that an old channel can be revived with consistent high quality posting and lots of internet activity. I'd feel better knowing that someone who finds me has a wealth of old content to go through if they choose to binge me, but then what do I do with this new channel? I got a new gmail for it and everything lmao All I know is tomorrow is a posting day so I have to figure it out before then....

If it does, it could make truly original and unique music highly sought after by people with more underground tastes. Hope so.

I was being a bit hyperbolic on purpose, I suppose there is probably some nuance to the situation, but a LOT of this ai content is just basically theft. A program takes the ideas from the whole of the internet (theft) then puts it together like it was the user's original idea (it wasn't) then fake voices, fake people deliver the unoriginal concepts, and if the video rises up in the algorithm it takes away views from the content it was created out of. I don't know anyone who likes this, and when it comes to AI music, most people I know feel duped and upset when they really like a song and then find out it was created by AI. The internet seems pretty solid on hating that, and once again, where does the AI get the riffs from? Where does it get the lyrics from? Pre-existing music that real people worked hard on.

I can see someone using AI to HELP with the creation process, "AI give me some ideas of where to take this bridge" then uses the inspiration to create their own thing out of it or "AI I'm stuck on this line, throw me some possible places I could take it" I get that. But when the entire thing from the performance to the lyric to the production and everything was just created by a prompt? Sorry, I will never get behind that and I'm glad youtube seems to be doing something about it.

Just caught that last bit, yeah palworld is probably right in that sweet spot, but that's just my best guess.

All my research and a little bit of my experience points to finding games that are niche but not too niche. You don't want something that almost no one ever plays, and you don't want something that is hugely popular. Legacy games, indie darlings, these seem to be best for a streamer with no following yet. Would love to take a look at your channel as I'm pivoting from music content to gaming content atm and hoping to find people who want to do streaming collabs.

Nice, I've been keeping mine to about 15-20 seconds and they're doing pretty well. I could easily up that to a minute though, each video is a single joke, I could string 3 or 4 jokes together but for now I just want the views and growth.

I have a zoom, but you have to upload it's audio through a usb which I find obnoxious. If I wanted my music to sound more professional I''d use it anyway cause having two mics capture your instruments will give you a thicker fuller sound, I'm just too lazy right now. Main mic is a Shure sm7b, (the mic in my avatar), I felt really smart snagging one of these cause I did all this research before I chose it, only to find out like every youtuber/streamer and their grandma is using the same mic lol

I'm pretty sure this is what I'm gonna do, it just upsets me a bit as all my tiktoks up till this point have been linking back to my old channel and I don't wanna go back through them all and change it, plus I JUST told my followers I was gonna be posting there only, now about a week later I'm gonna be changing that. But I mean... CEO's of businesses have to lay people off and shut down unprofitable projects, this is probably a "grow a pair" moment for me lol

I JUST started getting some organic followers on tiktok who aren't people I already know, and tiktok said one of my videos is outperforming 90 percent of other videos in it's genre, it's the first truly hopeful thing I've had happen yet, definitely gives me a motivation boost.

Not unless I'm missing something. I only see "get clips" and when I click it it tries to sell me premium. Copilot was saying to look for "auto clips" but I don't see that anywhere.

It seems to me that if you want followers on twitch you need to do long streams, I keep tapping out around 2 and a half hours, and that feels like it's right when people start showing up. If I could get up to 4 or 5 hour streams I'd probably see pretty steady growth.
