Is Monetising a Shorts Channel Too Hard Now?

    Im thinking about starting a new channel that will be for Shorts only. Is it realistic to build a Shorts channel and get monetised now or is it difficult to consistently hit the current YPP threshold? From what I understand you need 1,000 subscribers and 10 million qualified Shorts views within 90 days for full Shorts monetisation but its going to change next year to the new threshold. How difficult is it to maintain that level of views? Id be interested to hear from anyone currently running a Shorts only channel and how you have found it?

    I really don't know, I'm concerned about it too, but the way I look at it is, let's say you can't get monetized, but CAN get a few hundred thousand views per video and like 10,000 dedicated followers. Find something to sell them you know? Make T-shirts, sell coffee, make a patreon and try to get support there, if youtube doesn't wanna pay us we should still be able to find a way to sell something of value to the audience we gain.

    This is of course theoretical, I am not claiming to have had any success with this yet lol.

    I dont know much about shorts only channels but as Symph said you can leverage the audience you get through them to monetise with brand deals etc I always hear that shorts are good for actual audience discovery and people finding you as they can get a lot more exposure and you can feed them into longer form content and I would assume elsewhere too like a website etc
