I HATE MAKING THUMBNAILS.

  • I love making content, I love filming it, picking my favorite parts, I don't mind editing (except when I've been doing it like 4 straight hours lol) but whenever it comes time to come up with a title/thumbnail combination I just go "Oh god here we go again..." I don't know why exactly but I've just never been visually creative. I didn't like to draw as a kid, and I don't know how to make titles that people NEED TO CLICK. My brain thinks of random stupid things that make me laugh, not "oh this will really make people wanna click on this" kind of ideas. And whenever I am in canva finding images to add and removing backgrounds, I'm just bored off my ass waiting for it to be over so I tend to just try and get my thumbs done as quickly as possible so I can be done with the process. This is probably not good when the title and thumb are the only thing that causes clicks to happen and I don't have any idea what people wanna see.

    Just sucks. Anybody relate? ||

  • Im not the best at clickbaity titles and thumbnails I have done silly ones etc to just find them to not perform as well. All you can do is keep in mind what a potential viewer may click on and be attracted to. With gaming obviously seeing the game like a cool point in the gameplay with your face too will be best and with text optionally. Is there maybe a highlight point in game usually you could use each time?

  • I dunno man, it's a shooting game there's explosions and action through the whole thing. And my face is already on the screen in every frame, I know you're saying "put yourself bigger on the thumbnail" but where? Over the part of the screen where you can already see me? Or do we put it somewhere else so that there's two of me on screen lmao I usually just try to find a frame where I'm looking like I'm having a good time or shocked or something, and I've seen people have success with titles similar to mine. Maybe I should try something like "This is my new favorite shooter OAT!!" or something but shorts are probably a big part of it. It's just all getting to be so much, I thought "gaming can supplement my other content cause gaming will be easier than making music!" And now with cutting up the tiktoks, making the thumbnails, thinking of the titles, playing the games, dealing with all the freaking issues like how this game I've been trying to record keeps lagging too much to be captured and I've had multiple streams that I thought were streaming only to find they errored and kicked me out it just... I don't even know anymore.

    And in the midst of this, I'm starting to finally gain followers who like the gaming content I AM putting up on tiktok so I feel like I need to stick with it. FML

  • I had a look at Markiplier to see what hes doing with his thumbs, a few he does similar to this and many are just in game renders of characters without any text etc

    Then when he started he was doing ones like this:

    When using copilot for titles it could be good to ask for a list of seo optimised and ordered by most relevant and highest searched comma delimited tags for each video. Your titles so far seem good man.

  • WHoa...... it looks like he actually DOES put a giant version of his face over his other face LMAO... I thought that sounded like a ridiculous idea, ok... maybe we'll give it a shot next time.
