I'm not sure you can prepare some perfect way to get your first one to "take off", I think it takes consistent posting of similar high quality content and then it helps to be a part of communities. Not just joining one and throwing your videos into a promo section and leaving (that rarely gets attention) but actually becoming known. Cause all it takes is a larger channel than yours to share you out and you get a nice little influx of viewers. I have been getting VERY little attention on my full length youtube videos, but the one short I did post got 70 views and it wasn't even very good lol

I need to post more but with live streaming, posting in forums, and trying to do two tik toks a day and 4 yt videos a week, I get overwhelmed. I'm slowly getting into a rhythm with it though and tiktok has shown me the most return of any platform.

Hmmm.... see I've always hated the way my face looked when I'm TRYING to take a good picture, and when I actually game it makes me a little square and I can't get that out if I wanna use an actual screen shot. But I could just have a camera rolling while I play a game that's not being fed to OBS to just get the natural reactions, choose my favorites, and then maybe paste them over the little square in the right hand corner. Though I'll be honest, we're getting into levels of effort I wasn't planning on doing lolol But yeah maybe.

There's a lot of toughening up that's not happening and it does no favors to the people who avoid it. If you never have to go out there and face the bullies you will not be able to face that boss who makes you feel attacked. If you don't have to learn to roll with some harsh criticism you will never be able to deal with public scrutiny. So many learning experiences are bypassed by just avoiding them and finding that online circle that affirms you in everything you do.

Yeah, I'm pretty umm... strict in my views on this stuff I guess. Most people seem to not care and I'm not sure why, but if I were in charge I would actually make it illegal to sell hidden wearable cameras to the public, or at least illegal to be caught with them on you. I'd make it so that if you're filming in public it must be obvious and you can't do so inside establishments that don't explicitly allow it, then let it be up to the businesses themselves.

It's so hard to do these days because of other kids and what their parents let them do. I know it's still possible but I've seen parents struggle with that, where they try to keep their kids internet free but then they go to school and their friends show them stuff and then the kid comes home and the begging starts and ugh... what an age to be alive....

I love my title thumbnails on these videos, and I've tempered my expectations as a new channel, I just wanna know what anyone who finds this (So Michael LMAO) thinks as far as like, is it the right kind of weird to make someone go "WTF is this guy on about?? click" I know it's not gonna have AS wide of an appeal as things like "Speedrunning xxx for the first time, I WASNT READY!!" but there's soooo much of that going on, and it's just not me. I figured I'd try cracking myself up with my titles thumbnails, and hope someone else thinks it's funny enough to click.

So now I am doing "This video game is not a ---" titles until some other weird idea hits me. Let me know what you think!

I don't like it one bit. I saw a video recently on tiktok where a guy had a velcro suit on and attached cameras all over it, went into a grocery store and a woman understandably got really angry. She started saying he shouldn't be filming here and said if she ended up on the internet she'd sue him. This asshole of course still posted the video and labeled it "Karen gets mad about me filming" or something like that. I expected to see him getting ripped apart in the comments but no, everyone was mocking the lady. Mocking her for expecting to be able to GO TO THE GROCERY STORE IN PRIVATE.

I mean we have laws about respecting people's privacy and somehow they're getting thrown out the window because of new technologies. People suffer from mental illness, anxieties, and many just want to be left alone. Anyone who doesn't care about that or respect that is just being straight up evil. (Didn't say they were INHERENTLY evil, they could just be reeeally selfish and incapable of big picture thinking)

Yeah I mean he's a pretty infamous guy, gets flack for e-begging and having really bad takes and stuff, but honestly being able to keep chugging along and not just close all accounts and vanish after something like that? I kinda respect it lol

I don't know about the warning thing, maybe they should be warned first, but from a gut reaction standpoint, this behavior is just so unbelievably shameless and predatory I don't have much sympathy for them getting banned with no warning. If they posted actual porn to youtube I don't think we'd be arguing they should be given a warning and this isn't that far removed from doing that.

I only saw a MoistCritikal video on it and he theorized that they are having trouble with all the AI channels coming out automating their uploads, and cashing out before they can find them and weed them out. He thinks that this is to give them more time to find them and ban/strike them or whatever before they have to pay money for content that generates no value. Makes sense, it is only a theory though.

Yeah I mean, both ideas sound fine, if you want it to go far on tiktok though just make sure it's snappy and has some kind of interesting hook in the beginning.

Well hopefully I can fill a void then! I also heard recently that youtube is doubling the amount of subs/views you need to get monetized and it's probably because of all these AI channels popping up pretty much ruining the ecosystem. I tried being nice about people using it but the longer this goes on the more I hate this stuff. Using AI to bounce ideas off a computer, asking it for editing tips or using it to refine your own creation, I'm fine with all that. But more and more people are automating fully ai generated content that has no stamp of creativity whatsoever at all and when they make money off of it it ruins the ecosystem we had going on and even youtube seems to be seeing that. Crazy times we live in man...

I think what I'm gonna do is keep my gaming offline and post those videos (which I'm getting good enough at keeping entertaining that they won't need editing) and then going live to do reaction content. But giving opinions live is once again, kinda scary so I'll do that offline first, get some reactions and when I'm comfortable I'll start reacting to a list of videos on twitch. I played a game last night and started channeling mitch hedburg somehow lol. I'll get something out today.

Oh it still circulates the internet, I've seen the clip, he's fortunate that the camera was only pointed at his face, but it's still quite clear what he was doing and his chat was yelling at him going "Omg is he doing what I think he's doing??" The way he handled the aftermath was by joking about it for a while, and I guess that's why he still has a career, though he is one of the most infamous people on the internet, not just for that, for e-begging and really bad takes too. Though in a WAY, it's kind of inspiring lol No fall is too far on the internet if you can laugh at yourself....

Nah dude, you can test how the video looks and how the audio is by hitting record but it's not testing how the wifi will handle the stream, nothing gets sent out, so if the problem is the upload speed it tells you nothing, and my problem is definitely the wifi/upload speed.

Ok actually I MIGHT be able to get the camera closer, (but not for sure) if I could pull one of the desk's drawers out and set things in it so I could stand the phone up on that, I might be able to get it closer, it also might be looking at my chest I'll tinker with it.

EDIT: Ok I think I figured this one out actually, I had been trying to find a way to zoom on camo cam with my phone, didn't think to see if there was any other way. After looking it up, you do it through the app on your computer but it apparently can be done, so next video you might be able to see my face better.

Nope, camera is as close as it can get, there's no space to put a tripod, I don't have a tripod, and there is a desk in the way. It would also appear I accidentally uploaded an earlier version of this video, I have a later edit that is a bit punchier, and I put subtitles for all video game characters and the message "Audio gets better later" at the beginning, I must have accidentally uploaded my previous version before that. I realized the game audio was low about 20 minutes into the stream and fixed it it's just that first part.

The only way to test a stream is to actually go live, (at least according to copilot) and my recordings are fine before you add in the wifi element, once I start streaming the bit rate goes up and down. I've had a few streams that looked fine, but I can never predict when they will or won't, maybe it's affected by the weather or what my parent's are doing on their computers or something.

Wait, creators can turn them off? I didn't even know that. I hadn't thought about whether or not mine might have them, I sure as heck don't want them on anything though.

But I mean, I watch tons of people making this kind of content, and I really think this is quite good for the gaming montage genre. I may have left a few things in where the energy got a bit too low but at the same time LOTS of people post long gaming vids with lots of boring bits or down time and I still find just watching the game enjoyable. Plus, it's gotten NO clicks, so nobody has even seen the content, if anything is to be blamed it would be the thumb.

I don't however think there's anything to blame here other than "new channel isn't trusted by algorithm so slow start" but if I'm gonna have a slow start on either channel? I'd rather have it reviving my old one than making a new one.
